HDTV Changes for this Year
HDTV is Howells-Dodge Consolidated Schools web television. We broadcast many different events; most of them live on our web station. We have had a lot of questions recently, and hopefully this will answer some of them.
MAJOR CHANGE FROM LAST YEAR: The company that hosts our video online has made a change and we are no longer able to provide live sports video for free. You can still watch it live if you subscribe to their service. We were able to convince them to offer it at a lower price to our subscribers. In order to prevent other athletic teams from not trading film for scouting purposes, the replays of these games are only available for a very short time, starting 30-90 minutes after the game, usually until the next day. Once that sportâs season is over, they are available to watch at any time.
Currently, we only broadcast home events. Part of the reason we do this, is because of NSAA live video rules. The other portion, is that we donât know what other schools have available for wireless Internet, space to set up our equipment, etc. Some area schools do broadcasts on their own though, so you can always try to check their website to see if an away event will be broadcast.
We currently are only doing Varsity and JV athletic events, and plan to do special events such as music programs, graduation, preschool programs and the like. It takes quite a while to set everything up, several students to produce an event, and everyone who is involved is volunteering their time. As more students get training on producing events, hopefully we will be able to increase our offering.
In order to view the events, go to the school website, www.howellsdodgeschools.org, and click on the HDTV button towards the top right. This will take you to the HDTV home page, where you can click to watch live or available past videos.
