October Meeting
SIP Minutes
The HDC SIP team had a meeting on October 2 in the Howells library. Attending the meeting were Mrs. Bazata, Mr. Coon, Mr. Groene, Mrs. Prusa, Mrs. Throener, Mr. VanLengen and Mrs. Barb Friesth (ESU 7 AdvancED Specialist). Mr. Friesth talked about the role that she plays in the school improvement process. She met with Mr. Coon approximately ten days ago to check and see where the district was in the process so far and wanted to come to a meeting to see how the group functioned. Mr. Coon updated the group on the progress of collecting parent perceptual data. There have been 21 surveys filled out for each site. According to AdvancED standards, we need 20% of parents to fill out surveys for a valid response. Looking ahead, we need 40% students and 60% of staff to fill out their surveys for those to be considered valid.Next, Mr. Coon informed the team about the SIP Action Plan that he has started. This plan includes the goal, benchmarks, interventions, initiatives, professional development and a summary table. The group went over the process sheets that everyone filled out. The process areas that were assessed based upon a rubric included: Information and Analysis, Student Achievement, Quality Planning, Leadership, Professional Learning, Partnership Development and Continuous Improvement and Evaluation. Looking over this rubric gave the group a good idea on the next steps that need to be taken district-wide in order to move to the next level.Upcoming SIP activities include trainings in Norfolk on October 23 and 24 and November 17 at ESU 7. The next meeting will be at November 6 at 7:15am in the Howells site library.
Respectfully submitted,
Dirk Coon
