Howells-Dodge FCCLA members earn awards at State Leadership Conference
Fifty-two members of the Howells-Dodge FCCLA Chapter attended Nebraska FCCLA State Leadership Conference April 8 – 10 in Lincoln. “Grow Potential & Strengthen Roots” was the theme for this year’s conference.
The following members earned medals at the State FCCLA STAR Events: Brittany Cech - Family Challenges and Issues Sr., Silver; Connor Blum, Zach Lund, Josh Brester - Health & Wellness Sr., Silver; Madyson Cech and Grace Kreikemeier – Advocacy Sr. , Silver; Megan Balsley and Desirae Haase - Chapter In Review Display Sr. , Silver; Katelyn Steffensmeier, Jordyn Brester, Emily Wragge – Chapter Service Portfolio Sr., Silver; Luke Rocheford, Kyle Pickhinke, Darrin Pokorny - Entrepreneurship Sr., Bronze; Hannah Bayer, Grace Dvorak, McKenna Klosen – Focus on Children Sr., Silver; Jacob Tomcak, Harley Williams – Food Innovations Jr., Silver; Ellie Sheaks, Holly Tomcak – Food Innovations Sr., Silver; Courtney Bayer, Neleigh Jensen, Bridget Praest – Interior Design Sr., Silver; Callie Jackson, Catherine Kempf, Alyssa Cappellano – Interpersonal Communication Sr. , Bronze; Jayda Bazata, Lexie Brester, Riley Pokorny – Life Event Planning Jr., Silver; Lindsey Pickhinke, Rebecca Swanda – Life Event Planning Sr., Silver; and Ryan Macholan, Jon Yosten, Dax VanLengen, Jordon Brichacek, Ely Henrickson, Mitch Yosten, Lane Hegemann, Kade Hegemann – Parliamentary Procedure Sr., Silver;
Jessi Brester, Tonya Brester, Erin Prusa – Promote and Publicize FCCLA Sr., State Runner-up; Alyssa Coufal, Taya VanLengen - Sports Nutrition Sr., State Runner-up; Audrey Coufal, Cara Dvorak, Janessa Schmidt – State Champion. These three groups have qualified for the National STAR Events in Atlanta, GA later in June.
At the Awards and Recognition Ceremony, State Power of One Award winners were Logan Pieper, Jill Grovijohn, Cassie Pieper and Chloe’ Pieper. Dax VanLengen, Chapter President, was one of four members across the state honored with the Ultimate Leader Award. Katelyn Steffensmeier was also honored as an Ultimate Leader Nominee. The chapter also received the Gold STAR Chapter Award, 2nd Place Chapter Developer Award; Families First National Program Award; Red and White Chapter Award; and Nebraska Career Connections Award.
