FCCLA Follow-Up Survey finds 94.8% of Drivers Wearing Seat Belts

On Thursday, November 15, the Howells-Dodge FCCLA members conducted a follow-up seat belt survey from 7:45 – 8:15 a.m. in the high school parking lot.  94.8% of drivers were wearing seat belts and 5.2% were not.  89.4% of passengers wore seat belts and 10.6% did not.  Seat belt use improved from the October survey, where 81.1% of drivers wore seat belts and 82.4% of passengers wore seat belts.

This project was done as part of the FCCLA Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety program in conjunction with the Teens in the Driver Seat Zero Crazy Activity.  Everyone surveyed received Rice Krispy bars with the message, “Don’t snap, crackle or pop your bones in an accident. WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT” along with safe driving promotional items from Teens in the Driver Seat.

The Howells-Dodge FCCLA would like to remind everyone to wear their seat belt, watch their speed, be cautious when driving at night, don’t drink and drive, and avoid distractions like texting and cell phone use when traveling during the holiday season.
