FCCLA Members Win Honors at District STAR Events.

Members of the Howells-Dodge FCCLA Chapter traveled to High Plains High School in Polk on Wednesday, Feb. 6 for the District 5 STAR Events Contest.  Students from Boone Central, St. Edward, High Plains, Twin River, Leigh-Clarkson, East Butler, Humphrey, David City, Schuyler, and Howells-Dodge FCCLA chapters participated in the event. 

 

State Qualifiers from Howells-Dodge were:  Advocacy Sr.​ - Courtney Bayer, Neleigh Jensen, Chloe’ Pieper, 1st Place, Silver; Chapter In Review Display Sr.​ - Megan Balsley, Desirae Haase, Kaydence Cech, 2nd Place, Silver; Chapter Service Project Display Sr.​ - Jayda Bazata, Lexie Brester, Logan Fiala, 2nd Place, Silver;  Chapter Service Project Portfolio Sr.​ - Brady Lund, Jacob Tomcak, 2nd Place, Silver;  Entrepreneurship Sr.​ - Alyssa Cappellano, Bridget Praest, Tony Coleman - 1st Place, Gold;  Focus on Children Sr.​ - Callie Jackson, Kelci Hansen, Micah Risch, 1st Place, Gold; Food Innovations Sr. ​- Jessi Brester, Tonya Brester, Erin Prusa 2nd Place, Gold; Hospitality and Tourism Sr.​ - Madyson Cech, Alyssa Coufal, 1st Place, Silver; Illustrated Talk Sr.​ - Harley Williams, Shelby Risch, 1st Place, Gold; Interpersonal Communications Jr.​ - Kennady Schmidt & Sasha Perrin, 1st Place, Gold;  Interpersonal Communications Sr.​ - Grace Kreikemeier, Taya VanLengen, 2nd Place, Gold; Life Event Planning Sr. ​- Jill Grovijohn, Cassie Pieper, Riley Pokorny, 1st Place, Gold ;Parliamentary Procedure Sr.​ - Mitch Yosten, Kade Hegemann, Lane Hegemann, Josh Brester, Luke Rocheford, Kyle Pickhinke, Alex Recker, Darrin Pokorny, 2nd Place, Silver; Promote & Publicize FCCLA Sr.​ - Hannah Bayer, Grace Dvorak, McKenna Klosen, 2nd Place, Gold; Sports Nutrition Jr.​ - Brooklyn Macholan, Lilly Praest, Ashlynn Throener, 1st Place, Gold;  and Sports Nutrition Sr. ​- Audrey Coufal, Cara Dvorak, Janessa Schmidt, 1st Place, Silver.  These students will represent District 5 at the State STAR Events Contest on April 8 in Lincoln.

 

Other Medal Winners​ were:  National Programs In Action​ - Ashley Smith and Lupe Curiel, 3rd Place, Silver; and Environmental Ambassador​ - Michaela Hegemann, Lexi Tupaz, 3rd Place, Bronze.
