FCCLA Meeting Held August 20

The Howells-Dodge FCCLA Chapter met on Tuesday, August 20 at 7:00 p.m. A spaghetti supper was enjoyed before the business meeting.  Following the opening ceremony, President Kyle Pickhinke called the meeting to order.  The 2019-2020 officers were introduced.  They are:  District 5 Vice President of DLC Awards – Madyson Cech, President – Kyle Pickhinke, Vice President – Grace Kreikemeier, Secretary – Alex Recker; Treasurer – Luke Rocheford, Publicity Chairperson – Lexie Brester, Historian – Alyssa Coufal, Power of One Chairperson – Harley Williams and Recreation Chairperson – Darrin Pokorny.  The officers gave the new members a welcome. 

 

Old business included announcing that the chapter was to receive awards from Keep Nebraska Beautiful at their awards luncheon on August 27.  The Fall Leadership Conference will be held on Monday, September 9 in Kearney.  Members should sign up by August 30, if they would like to attend.  Chapter T-shirts were discussed and Darrin Pokorny and Luke Rocheford volunteered to create the shirt design.  The chapter is hosting the Rib Run on Saturday, September 7.  Members volunteered to assist with the event.  Creating the T-shirt design for the Rib Run will be Jill Grovijohn, Riley Pokorny and Brooklyn Macholan.  Members also signed up to help with Face Painting at the Rib Fest on Sept. 7 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. 

 

New business followed.  Members made plans to do their Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up on Tuesday, August 27.  Dues are $13 and should be paid in the office by Sept. 6.  The chapter will have concessions for the football game in Howells on August 30 and the volleyball tourney in Dodge on Sept. 14.  Chapter parents for the coming year are Brian and Kim Coufal, Keith and Linette Brester and Jason and Kathy Kreikeimeier.  Chapter goals were discussed.  District Leadership Conference is Monday, October 14 at CCC in Columbus.  Members volunteered for the Creed Speaking Contest.  The poster contest was also discussed.  State Officer Candidate information was also shared.  The Howells-Dodge Chapter will be hosting District STAR Events on Wed., Jan. 29 In Howells.  The meeting was adjourned.  Door prizes of free dues were won by Carly Bayer, Cassie Pieper, Tony Coleman and Cara Dvorak.
