FCCLA Members Attended District 5 Leadership Conference

 

    The District 5 FCCLA Leadership Conference was held at CCC in Columbus on Monday, October 11.  318 FCCLA members from Boone Central, David City, East Butler, High Plains, Howells-Dodge, Humphrey, Leigh-Clarkson, Madison, Schuyler, St. Edward and Twin River FCCLA Chapters attended.  The theme for this year’s conference was “Fall Back Into FCCLA”.

    The conference began with a welcome from Jennifer Wurdeman of Central Community College.  Haley Sebranek, District President of East Butler opened the meeting.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by ViviAnne Sayer of Schuyler.  Roll Call and the minutes of the 2019 meeting were read by Roberta Hines, District Secretary of High Plains.  The District Officer Installation was conducted by the Twin River FCCLA Chapter.  District 5 Officers for 2021-2022 are President - Haley Sebranek of East Butler, Vice president - ViviAnne Sayer of Schuyler, Secretary - Roberta Hines of High Plains, Vice President of Competitive Events - Marisa Malander of Boone Central, Vice President of Public Relations - Brooklyn Machola of Howells-Dodge, Vice President of Special Events - Walker Gullicksen of Madison, Vice President of Outreach - Maddie Reeves of St. Edward, Vice President of DLC Awards - Macy Clausen of Leigh Clarkson, Historian - Braxton Small of David City and District Representative - Kaiden Ferris of Twin River.  District 5 Adviser is Marla Prusa of Howells-Dodge.   State Officers Tess Cherry  of Twin River  and Natalie Brabec of Leigh-Clarkson brought greetings from Nebraska FCCLA.  Gina Alba of Schuyler gave a welcome from the State Peer Officer Team.

    Rolls and juice were served by the St. Edward FCCLA Chapter.  The keynote presentation was given by Revolution, which focused on dating abuse prevention.  During the Big Breakout sessions, chapters attended a presentation on Social Media by Amy Schantz of East Central Health, Team Building led by Jared Severson of Schuyler and lunch.  Afternoon breakout sessions included Jesse Pfeiffer from the Nebraska State Patrol, Renee Sayer from CHI Health, Susan Nissen on Upholstery, John Valasek from the National Guard, Kelsey Andrews from All About You Adoption, Cheri Vetick from Paws and Claws Pet Adoption, Natalie Brabec on Leadership in Schools, Tessa Cherry on FCCLA Opportunities, Gina Alba on Would you Rather?:  Supermarket Edition and Marissa Bruce, who prepared SPOT in the SPOTlight, presented by Marla Prusa, State Peer Officer Team Lead Adviser.

    During the closing session, poster contest awards were presented.  Jr. Creed Speaking Contest winners were:  1.  Lanie Allen of Twin River, 2.  Jade Bayer of Howells-Dodge, and 3.  Aubree Brandenburger of Twin River.  Sr. Creed Speaking Contest winners were:  1.  Kennedy Schmidt of Howells-Dodge, 2.  Braxton Small of David City and 3.  Maddie Reeves of St. Edward.   A door prize drawing followed and the meeting was adjourned by President Haley Sebranek.
