FCCLA Conducts Follow-Up Seat Belt Survey
On Thursday, November 18, FCCLA members from Howells-Dodge did a follow-up seat belt survey from 7:45 - 8:15 a.m. in the school parking lot. 91% of drivers were wearing seat belts and 9% were not using a seat belt. Of the passengers in the survey, 93% were wearing seat belts and 7% were not. This was an increase from the earlier survey, where only 86% of both drivers and passengers were found wearing their seat belt. Each person in the survey was given a packaged granola bar with the message, “Chews” to wear a seat belt every time you drive or ride. This project was done in conjunction with the chapter’s Teens in the Driver Seat activities for the FCCLA National Program Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety (FACTS). Assisting with the survey were Ashlynn Throener, Landon Dobbins, Brady Lund and Justenne Carstens.
The FCCLA Chapter would like to remind everyone to wear their seat belt. Whether you are driving just a few blocks or many miles, take the time to buckle up. With winter driving conditions approaching, remember to drive safely
