Jaguar Quiz Bowl Qualifies for State Contest
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe HDC Quiz Bowl Team had an eventful week of competition as they traveled to Pender for the East Husker Conference Competition. The team moved through the pool play with wins over North Bend and Twin River. This placed the team in the top seed of the bracket. After defeating North Bend in the quarterfinals and Pender in the semifinals, the team found themselves facing Leigh in the championship match. The team was able to defeat Leigh and claim the conference championship.
On Thursday, the team hosted the ESU 7 District Quiz Bowl Contest in Howells. The double-elimination bracket featured 20 schools ranging in size from Class A to Class D. The team moved through the bracket claiming victories over East Butler, Shelby-Rising City and Nebraska Christian before losing to David City in the semifinals. The team fought back from the loser's bracket by winning against Nebraska Christian. In the championship match, David City was able to claim victory with the Jaguars accepting runner-up honors. Both David City and Howells-Dodge advance to the State Quiz Bowl Championships to be held in Hastings on Wednesday, April 27th.
