HDC defeats Wakefield
The Lady Jags played the Trojans on Tuesday, September 17th. The Jaguars took the first, second, and fourth set, while the Trojans took the third. Leading the teams in kills was Kylie Brichacek with 13, followed by Peyten Becker with 12, Ava Noyd and Bella Koliha each had 8, Audrey Brabec with 3, and Taylor Steffensmeier with 2. Taylor led the team with 3 aces; Kylie, Peyten, and Ava had one. Ava had the most blocks with 4, followed by Peyten, Bella, and Taylor each having 2, and Kylie and Audrey both had 1. Jade led the team with 16 digs, Peyten had 12, Kylie with 11, McKenzie Sindelar with 10, Taylor with 9, Ava with 4, Audrey with 3, and Bella with one. Taylor led the team with 20 assists, McKenzie with 14, Peyten with 3, Ava with 2, and Jade with 1.
The Lady Jags started off to a slow start in the first set, scoring 3-5. With Noyd serving they were able to make a 7-0 run making the score 10-5. The Trojans caught up late in the set, scoring 23-20. Becker got the final kill to end the set 25-20.
In the second set, the Jags got off to an early start. Becker got an ace forcing Wakefield to take a timeout making the score 11-6. Steffensmeier and Koliha got a block, keeping the lead 17-9. Steffensmeier got back-to-back aces pushing the score to 24-20. Noyd and Becker got the final block to end the set 25-14.
In the third set, Becker got a kill on an overpass to tie the game at 7. Becker got a kill followed by an ace by Steffensmeier, tying the game once again at 12. Brichacek missed her serve giving the Trojans the lead, 20-23. Koliha got a kill followed by a hitting error by the Trojans bringing the Lady Jags right back in the game with the score 22-23. Jags had a hitting error which was followed by a kill from the Trojans to end the set 22-25.
In the fourth set, the Trojans got off to a good start by getting back-to-back kills tying the game up at 5. The Lady Jags made 3 errors in a row giving the Trojans the lead 8-10 forcing H-D to take a timeout. Brichacek had back-to-back kills putting the Jags back into the game with the score 13-15. With Noyd at the serving line, the Jags were able to make a comeback and go on a 5-0 run making the score 16-15. H-D stayed aggressive and increased their lead to 23-17 forcing Wakefield to take a timeout. Bayer went back to the serving line followed by a block by Noyd and Becker to end the set with the final score of 25-18.
