The Lady Jags wrap up their season!

The Lady Jags went to Lincoln to compete in the State Basketball tournament on Wednesday the 5th. The Lady Jags faced the Pender Pendragons and lost 64-45. The seniors Ava Noyd, Taylor Steffensmeier, Jade Bayer, and Jordyn Ratzlaff finished their careers with a 55-48 record and 2 trips to the State Tournament.

Pender 15/ 20/ 14/ 15  Final 64

 

Sophomore Kylie Brichacek led the team in points with 12 points. Next was junior Kenadie Throener with 11 points and senior Jordyn Ratzlaff with 9 points. Senior Jade Bayer had 5 points, and senior Ava Noyd and sophomore Peyten Becker had 3 points each. Lastly, sophomore Audrey Brabec had 2 points. Leading in rebounds was Brichacek with 7 followed by Brabec with 6. Next was Ratzlaff and Throener, both with 4. Also, Bayer and Becker with 3 each. Finally was Noyd with 1 rebound.

Leading the team in assists was Becker with 4, followed by Brichacek and Brabec with 2. Sophomore Bella Kohlia, Bayer, senior Taylor Steffensmeier, and Throener all had 1 assist. In steals, Throener and Brichacek both led the team with 2, and finally, in steals, sophomore Maura Cada and Ratzlaff both had 1 steal. Jordyn Ratzlaff led the team in deflections with three, followed by Bayer and Throener with 1.

The head coach for the Lady Jags, Scott Polacek, said, “When those four arrived, we were in a little dip on the talent side- we had 4 losing seasons in a row right after we were State Champions. Those ladies were a mentally strong group to lean on, a willful group who demanded excellence. They were fun, yet understood leadership. I truly owe them for the impact they made during their career.”
