Jaguars clash with the Trojans
On Saturday, December 6th, the Howells-Dodge Jaguars played Wakefield in Dodge. The Jaguars led with dominance and won 79-48. Chase Luther was the leading teammate with the highest points, being 30. Behind him were Ethan Prusa with 12 points, and Nathan Tomcak and Andre Martin tied with 10 points. Hunter Luther scored 8, Dane Meyer with 4, and last but not least, Cooper Kreikemeier with 3. Chase led the game with 8 3’s to now gain the Howells-Dodge basketball 3-point record. Ethan also had 4 to contribute to the 3’s. Hunter made 5 2-pointers, Andre with 4, Nathan and Chase with 3, and Dane with 2. In total, the team scored 14, 3s, and 12 2pt scores. Coach Kevin Janata stated, “It was a game of momentum swings. We got out to a hot shooting, scoring 24 in the first, taking an 11-point lead into the 2nd quarter. We cooled off a bit in the 2nd, and Wakefield hit some big shots to make it a 6-point game going into the second half. It was a back-and-forth game in the 3rd, but eventually, with a combination of hot shooting and solid defense, we were able to pull away and secure the victory. The Jaguars were led by an outstanding shooting effort by Chase Luther, who broke the single-game 3-point record, hitting 8 of 14 from beyond the arc, breaking the old record of 7 by Gavin Nelson. Chase also led the way in scoring with 30, but it was a great team effort on both ends of the floor. We next take on Humprey/Lindsay Bulldogs on Friday in Howells”.
