Lady Jags fall to Oakland-Craig
Howells-Dodge battled through their first true game of the season against Oakland-Craig on Thursday, August 29 in Oakland. The Lady Jags came ready to play but did not put up a good enough fight. In the end, the ladies lost 0-3. The first set of the night was 15-25. The closest set was 24-26. The last set was again 15-25.
Leading the Lady Jags with kills was Kylie Brichacek with 7, Taylor Steffensmeier and Bella Koliha with 4, and Ava Noyd, Peyten Becker, and Audrey Brabec with 3.
Audrey Brabec put up 2 blocks. She was the only one to get any blocks that night.
Taylor Steffensmeier had a whopping 17 assists, and following behind was Ava Noyd, Jade Bayer, and Kylie Brichacek with 2.
Defensively Jade Bayer had 17 digs, Taylor Steffensmeier with 10, and Peyten Becker and McKenzie Sindelar with 8.
"The first game of the season is always full of nerves and unknowns. Oakland-Craig's two big hitters ultimately were too much for us to handle on our first night out. Now we know how much faster we need to serve, move on defense, and hit in order to be successful." head coach, Sara Franzluebbers said.
