Lady Jags lose in 3 to Patriots
On Tuesday, September 3, the Lady Jags traveled to Clarkson to take on the Clarkson-Leigh Patriots. The Jaguars lost in three sets. The first set was 16-25, the second set 13-25, and the third set 16-25.
In set one, the Jags started off the set neck and neck with the Patriots tying the score at eight after a slide kill by Bella Koliha. The Jags then dropped six straight points to the Patriots, but the Jaguars cut the lead to four after a block by Taylor Steffensmeier. This wasn’t quite enough, and the Patriots won five out of the last six points of the set, winning 25-16.
The Jags and Patriots traded the first few points of set two after a kill by Ava Noyd, but the Patriots then pulled away significantly. The Jags did win two out of the last four points of the set after a kill by Audrey Brabec and a kill by Kylie Brichacek, but the Patriots ended up taking the set 25-13.
In the final set of the match, the Jags began the set close behind Clarkson-Leigh, sparked by a Peyten Becker kill. The Patriots pulled ahead a bit, but the Jags evened the score back up after two kills by Kylie Brichacek. Once again, the Patriots pulled away, but the Jaguars cut the lead to one after a Clarkson-Leigh attack error. After point sixteen, the Jags couldn’t put up a good enough fight and the Patriots won the set 25-16.
