Teens in the driver's seat survey results
Howells-Dodge FCCLA has completed its annual Teens in the Driver Seat seat belt survey. Members who completed the survey were Dane Meyer, Cooper Kreikemeier, Allie Dirkschneider, and Kylie Brichacek. Through this survey, FCCLA members remind students and staff of Howells-Dodge Consolidated Schools that wearing seat belts is important and could save their lives someday. The four FCCLA members who conducted the survey performed a pre- and post-survey. The pre-survey took place on Wednesday, October 29th. The time that is easiest to track who wears their seat belt is in the morning, so both of the surveys that were taken took place from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. The post survey took place on Wednesday, November 5th.
The pre-survey found that a total of 86 people were surveyed. Of those 86 people, 62 were wearing their seat belts, and 24 people were not wearing their seat belts. It was also found that a majority of the time, if the driver was wearing their seat belt and they had passengers in their vehicle, the passengers were also wearing their seat belts. During the post survey, if students or staff were wearing their seat belts, they would receive a treat for wearing their seat belts. The total number of people who were surveyed for the post survey was 68. Of those 68 people, 53 people wore their seat belts and 15 people did not wear their seat belts. The findings from this survey showed that more people wore their seat belts during the post survey than the pre survey. The Howells-Dodge FCCLA chapter loves to do this survey as it is a great reminder to always wear your seat belt, no matter if you are the driver or the passenger.
