FCCLA goes to State Leadership Conference
42 Howells-Dodge FCCLA members traveled to Lincoln to participate in FCCLA STAR Events. STAR stands for students taking action with recognition. These FCCLA members have worked hard on their FCCLA projects all year and finished their year off competing at state.
The Chapter Awards that the Howells-Dodge FCCLA were awarded were the Silver Chapter Award, Gold Community ServUS Award, White Chapter Affiliation Award, Chapter Membership Increase Award, Emerging Leaders Membership Award, Feed Nebraska Award, FACTS Nebraska National Program Award, Families First Nebraska National Program Award, and the Community Service Nebraska National Program Award. Kenadie Throener was one of three students in the state of Nebraska to be chosen for an FCCLA scholarship. Kenadie was awarded the Ultimate Leader Scholarship and was awarded $1,000. Ms. Payje Rayback was awarded the Advisor Committed to Excellence Award.
The FCCLA STAR competitors and their placings are as follows. Brynn Throener and Avery Bayer participated in Nutrition and Wellness Level 2 and were awarded a Bronze Medal. Nathan Tomcak, Chase Luther, and Ethan Prusa participated in Nutrition and Wellness Level 3 and received a Silver Medal. Brittney Faltys, Ava Koliha, and Riley Svehla participated in Repurpose and Redesign Level 2, were State Runners-up, and received a Silver Medal. These three students also qualified for National FCCLA! Konner Bourek, Dane Meyer, and Cooper Kreikemeier participated in Repurpose and Redesign Level 3 and received a Silver Medal. Bella Koliha, Audrey Brabec, and Briggs Ernst participated in Sports Nutrition Level 3 and were awarded a Gold Medal as State Runners-up. This group also qualified for National FCCLA! Addalyn Dobbins, Brooklyn Faltys, and Norah Noyd participated in Sports Nutrition Level 2 and received a Silver Medal. Alessa Gall participated in Career Investigation Level 3 and received a Silver Medal. Kylie Brichacek, Isaac Meyer, and Cole Bayer participated in Focus on Children Level 3 and received a Silver Medal. Emma Ortmeier and Jordyn Hamata participated in National Programs in Action Level 2 and received a Bronze Medal. Gabe Martin, Oliver Belina, and Braxton Prusa participated in Entrepreneurship Level 2 and received a Silver Medal. Addison Heard and Reagan Bayer participated in the Sustainability Challenge Level 2 and were State Runners-up with a Gold Medal and as National Qualifiers! Teney Ernst participated in Early Childhood Education Level 2 and received a Gold Medal, was State Runner-up, and a National Qualifier! Maua Cada and McKenzie Sindelar participated in Professional Presentation Level 3 and received a Bronze Medal. Allie Dirkschneider, Peyten Becker, and Isabella Wegner participated in Chapter Service Project Display Level 3 and were awarded a Silver Medal. Dani Dirkschneider, Brea Paus, and Danica Throener participated in Chapter Service Project Display Level 2 and received a Silver Medal. This year, we had 5 FCCLA members compete in the FCS/FCCLA Knowledge Bowl, and the students who competed were Kenadie Throener, Andre Martin, Jose Arita-Segovia, Arianna Risch, and Natali Matute.
This was a successful State Leadership event for this year's FCCLA members. There were a total of 9 FCCLA members who qualified for the National Leadership Conference. These students will attend the National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., from July 6th to July 10th, where they will present their STAR project, network with other students from different states, gain new ideas for next year’s FCCLA chapter, and build their leadership skills.
