Speech team travels to Schuyler
On Tuesday, March 10th, the Jaguar Speech team traveled to Schuyler to compete in their last meet before districts. Each member presented their event twice, and the team had multiple people in finals who presented their speech a third time. The Howells-Dodge Speech team has continued to work hard, and it showed in Schuyler.
This meet had two finals: Champs and Honors. Howells-Dodge had multiple individuals in each final. The first final is Champs, where they take the top 6 individuals. The placings in Informative Speaking are Isabel, the champion. In Entertainment Speaking, Garret P. placed 5th. The Oral Interpretation of Drama team, consisting of Cooper, Garret P., Isabel, Nathan, and Noah, placed 3rd. In Duet Acting, Noah and Garret P. were the champions.
In the Next-In or Honors finals, the results included the next 6 individuals. Annemarie received a champion finish in Poetry. Isabel ended up as the runner-up in Persuasive Speaking. The other Oral Interpretation of Drama team from Howells-Dodge, consisting of Allie, Gabe, Isabella, Isaiah, and Jose, placed 3rd in Next-In finals. In Duet Acting, Gabe and Jose placed 3rd. For the Program of Oral Interpretation, Addi B. placed 4th. In Humorous Prose, Cooper placed 4th, and Isaiah placed 6th. Shayla placed 5th in Serious Prose, and Alessa also placed 5th in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Howells-Dodge finished 3rd as a team at Schuyler and is looking forward to finishing their season strong. The Jaguar Speech team will travel to Elm Creek next on Tuesday, March 17th, to compete in the C2-5 District Speech Meet.
