Jaguar Speech Team Claims State Medals

The HDC Speech Team competed at the Class C2 State Speech Championships in Kearney on Friday, March 27th. The team had 17 entries that earned a competitive spot in the tournament. Hudson Dobbins and Briggs Ernst competed with their Unified Duet entry of Fast Feud and were able to secure runner-up honors. The remaining events worked through three preliminary rounds of competition before the top six in each event advanced to the final round. Three Jaguar events were able to claim these finals spots. Isabel Belina earned sixth place with her informative speech on Neurogastronomy. Annemarie Slaughter was the fourth-place poetry medalist with her program entitled Trials of Endurance. The OID team of Cooper Kreikemeier, Nathan Tomcak, Noah Coufal, Garret Praest, and Isabel Belina garnered the third-place medals with their version of Feed the Whales: The Saga of the Boy Band Oreo. 

The team had a memorable season with many of their events earning many accolades at the different meets they attended. Greatest team honors included their varsity championship at Wakefield, their runner-up finish at the East Husker Conference West Division contest, and their district championship. The coaches and competitors are thankful for all the community support they received throughout the season.
