Jags pull away with the win

On Tuesday, January 20, the boys' basketball team went up against the Bancroft Rosalie Panthers. It was a tight battle till the end. The game started off strong with the Jags leading 16-14 after the 1st quarter. During the 2nd quarter, it got more intense with the scores being 26-26. After the 3rd quarter, the Panthers came away with the lead, having the score be 40-44. During the 4th quarter, it really came down to the last second for the score to be 56-55 with the Jags winning. 

The leading scorers for the Jags were Nathan Tomcak with 25, Chase Luther with 11, Ethan Prusa with 8, Andre Martin with 6, and Dane Meyer and Briggs Ernst with 3. The team in total scored 7 threes. Both Chase and Nathan each had 3, and Dane Meyer had 1. The team had 23 defensive rebounds in total, with Andre leading with 8 and Dane coming in close with 6. When asked how the game was, Coach Janata stated, “It was a back-and-forth game where we struggled to find rhythm on offense, and defensively, we played pretty solid, but Bancroft Rosalie is known for hitting tough shots.”

 Down 7, with 2 minutes left, we hit a big 3 and got a steal and a layup to make it a 2-point game. After another stop, Chase Luther tied it up after rebounding his own miss. Tied 52 to 52, we got a steal on the other end, and Dane Meyer hit Nathan Tomak for a 2 to take the lead. After a foul on a rebound, Nathan Tomcak hit 2 free throws to seal the victory. Dane Meyer had a tremendous game, with a double-double: 12 rebounds and 11 assists.
