FCCLA MeetIng Held November 14

The Howells-Dodge FCCLA Chapter met on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Howells-Dodge Consolidated Schools.  The meeting was called to order by Dax VanLengen, chapter president.  Members were thanked for their excellent participation at the District Leadership Conference and for their outstanding job of selling for our FCCLA Food Sales Fundraiser and the top sellers were recognized.

 

District 5 STAR Events are Friday, Jan. 19 in David City and members were reminded to continue work on their events.  The FCCLA Christmas Party is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 14 at 6:00 p.m. Supper will be provided.  Upcoming Concession stands are the Howells-Dodge Wrestling Tourney on Saturday, Dec. 2 and the Howells-Dodge/West Point-Beemer basketball game in Dodge on December 12.  Members were reminded to sign up to work.

 

The chapter received materials for a sign that can be put up on the chain link fence to promote traffic safety.  The sign will be put up on Thursday, November 16.  The follow-up seat belt survey will also be held in the school parking lot that morning and members volunteered to assist.

 

The FCCLA Babysitting Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16.  Any member interested in applying for the State Peer Officer Teams or State Officer Team, needs to complete the application form before December 15.  FCCLA scholarships are available for seniors at www.nebraskafccla.org.  

 

The chapter will be hosting a food drive competition in December for the high school classes.  The class that brings in the most items will receive an ice cream sundae party.  All donations will be contributed to the local Kommunity Kindness Drive.

 

The meeting was adjourned.  Door prize winners were Harley Williams, Logan Fiala, Tonya Brester and Michaela Hegemann.  Lunch was provided by the juniors.
