Lady Jags basketball is defeated by the Knights
On Saturday, December 13, the girls' basketball team traveled to Oakland to play the Oakland-Craig Knights. Unfortunately, the girls were not able to get a win but had a good fight with the ending score being 37-59. In the first quarter, the Lady Jags were able to score 5 points but weren’t able to catch up to the 17 points the Knights scored. The girls tried to come back and scored 7 points in the second quarter, and only allowed the Knights to score 10 against them. This brought the score at halftime to 12-27 with the Lady Jags still having to fight in the second half. Coming back from halftime, the Jags scored 13 and let the Knights score 15 points.
To end the game, the Jags scored another 12 in the last quarter, and the Knights scored 17. This brought the end score to 37-59. At the end, they had 34% shooting for the night and 55% from the free-throw line. The team had a total of 11 steals and a total of 15 deflections. Here is what the head coach Scott Polacek had to say after the game, “I was proud of our effort in the 2nd half; we just kept battling. We just didn’t get enough made shots early, and O-C capitalized.”
