Lady Jags basketball faces the Knights

On Thursday, February 5, the Lady Jaguars traveled to Stanton to face the Oakland-Craig Knights in the semi-finals of the East Husker Conference tournament. The girls' basketball team faced a loss with the final score of 38-46 against the Knights. The leading scorer on the night was Kylie Brichacek with 13 of the 38 points scored in the game. Kenadie Throener was the second leading scorer with 9 points, and Bella Koliha had 5 points. Three of the players had 3 points, including Audrey Brabec, McKenzie Sindelar, and Peyten Becker. Addison Heard had 2 points on the night.

On the defensive side of the court, the team had a total of seven steals, with 2 from both Kylie Brichacek and McKenzie Sindelar. The other three steals were from Audrey Brabec, Brynn Throener, and Peyten Becker. Back on the offensive side, the Lady Jags have 9 offensive rebounds, with three of them being from Kenadie and Audrey. Kylie had 2 offensive rebounds, and Brynn Throener had one. Here is what the girls' head basketball coach, Scott Polacek, had to say about the game, “O-C played great defense throughout, forcing way too many turnovers on us. We made a nice answer to our 2nd quarter, but their 3 big 3’s late was the difference.”
