The Jaguars wipe out the #3 Maywood/Hayes Center

On Thursday, March 5, the Lady Jags took on the Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves in the first round of the state tournament. The Jags started off strong, getting the quick lead with the score being 17-5. At half, the Jags continued to have the lead with the score being 28-14. After the third quarter, the Jags’ lead just took off, making the score 43-23. The final score of the game was 51-28, with the Jaguars winning and moving on to play on Friday night at 7:45 for a tip-off time. Adding to the score, Kylie Brichacek had 12 points. Behind her were Brynn Throener and Kenadie Throener, each with 10. The team had a total of five 3’s this game. Brynn had 2, and Kylie, Bella, and Peyten all had 1 to add to the 5. On the defensive side, the team had a total of 28 defensive rebounds. Kylie led with 9, and behind her was Kenadie with 7. Scott Polacek stated, “We had a balanced performance against a solid defense. If you can get 7 girls in the scoring column, it makes it hard for you to be beat.”
