Bailey Paus

On Saturday, March 7th, the Jaguars competed against Bloomfield at Pinnacle Bank Arena for their last and final game of the season. The ending score was 45-42, which led them to win their Class D1 Girls State Basketball trophy. Kylie Brichacek scored 20 points, had 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Audrey Brabec had 8 rebounds and 1 steal. Bella Koliha made 2 points and 1 assist. Mckenzie Sindelar had 1 rebound. Brynn Throener made 10 points, had 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Peyten Becker made 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. Kenadie Throener made 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal. Total points being 45, that lead them to victory. Kylie Brichacek and Brynn Throener were named to the Class D1 state tournament team after their performance Saturday night. HD survived a late-game run from Bloomfield. Coach Polacek's comments about this game were, “We came out firing on all cylinders in that one. Bloomfield is a great team. We did just enough to survive. Our girls are battle-tested, and that's exactly what is necessary for success on the big stage. We went through a gauntlet of tough teams during the regular season, and that prepared us. We knocked off the top 3 seeds in 3 days; that is one impressive feat, and the girls should be very proud of their teamwork.” HD now has two state basketball championships. The other was in 2017. Kenadie Throener finished a great career with a 3rd place finish as a sophomore and a state champion as a senior. Coach P had this to say about the lone senior, Kenadie, “Kenadie is a tremendous, positive leader for us. She’s seen the ups and downs of the game and brought our young team along. I appreciate her focus every day in practice.” Congratulations to the Lady Jaguars on a very successful season. Everyone is very proud of you!
