FCCLA members conduct seat belt survey

On Thursday, November 17, FCCLA members from Howells-Dodge surveyed student drivers and their passengers for seat belt use in the school parking before school from 7:45 - 8:10 a.m.  Cars were stopped as they entered the east and west entrances by Colton Klosen, Dane Meyer, Nathan Hegemann and Aiden Meyer.   The survey showed that 35 of 40 drivers were wearing seat belts (87.5%) and 9 of 14 passengers were using their seat belts. (64.2%).  Students were given Rice Krispie treats with the message “Don’t Snap, Crackle or Pop Your Bones in an Accident;  Wear Your Seat Belt.”

With winter weather approaching, the chapter wants to remind everyone to buckle up.  This project was done as part of the Howell-Dodge Chapter’s Families Acting for Community Safety project in conjunction with Teens in the Driver Seat.
