FCCLA Peer Education Conference was held February 22

The Nebraska FCCLA Peer Education Conference was held virtually on Monday, February 22.  The theme of the conference was “Building on the Past, Facing the Future.”  The State Peer Officer Team promoted the Outreach Project, “Our Past, Their Future” Book Drive.  The Howells-Dodge FCCLA Chapter donated a new book to each student  in the Preschool, Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes at Howells-Dodge Consolidated Schools that day.

Candidates for the 2021-2022 State Peer Officer Teams were introduced through the virtual platform.  Several awards were also presented at the Peer Education Conference.  The Howells-Dodge Chapter was the recipient of  the 1st Place Family Leader Capture the Action Award, the 2nd Place Community Leader Capture the Action Award  and the 3rd Place Career Leader Capture the Action Award.  The chapter also received recognition for their outreach projects done during the year.

The keynote speaker for the conference was Tom Koch of Minnesota, who asked questions to inspire and engage FCCLA members.  Included in the conference were breakout sessions by the State Peer Officer Team and the Safe Center of Kearney.  MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) provided a breakout session as well as a longer online training session for the students.  The conference also included a national programs activity that allowed chapters to create a puzzle poster about the Stand Up, FACTS, and Career Connections FCCLA programs.
